Here is a cold truth: most people who get into Internet Marketing do so because they want a fast method to earn easy money. Their strategy is to create a fast website, put up a little bit of advertising and a few affiliate links and then sit back and watch while they earn real cash. Some individuals are qualified to do this properly and earn quite a nice profit online. But what if you want more than additional or even quick cash (quick cash, naturally being a misnomer)? Can you truly turn Internet Marketing into a permanent and viable career?
The short and dirty answer is that yes, it's possible to make Internet Marketing your lasting and sustainable career. All you should do is begin things properly. The strategies and techniques that you will use building something that you want to use to earn just a few bucks are not the same as you will use to build a long term income. Can you truly create a full time income doing this? Sure when you decide on the right products and promote the heck out of them. It will be a lot better strategy, however, is to build your own merchandise and websites and then work to promote them. This allows you complete control over the things you do and how you do them. You will also be even more likely to use it through the long run. If you want to offer services as opposed to products, this is still true. Writers, for example, need to create websites for themselves and assemble portfolios that they can point to as examples of their work.
Finally, if you really want to do well and create long term and viable income for yourself online, you need to prepare yourself for total dedication to your task. You might have fun and feel rewarded by your labour but first you have to tell yourself "yes, I really want to do this." Doing it half heartedly won't allow you to get anywhere.
