I have said this before, but I will say it again. One of the best ways to make money fast is by blogging. This is especially the case with affiliate programs. You write a blog entry on a specific topic, and advertise products and services related to the topic right on the blog page.

However, the purpose of this article is not to tell you how to write a blog and which topics to promote. We will leave that up to you as you should blog about products and services which your are somewhat knowledgeable and interested in.

Rather, the purpose of this article is to take a step back and define blogging. Thereafter, we will show you a specific method which you should use in order to get your blog noticed by the search engine known as "Pinging".

If you already own a blog, then you certainly have a vested interest in the blog performing as well as possible in the search engines. However, what you probably do not know is that you have much more control over how your blog ranks in the search engines than you think.

Nevertheless, if you do not own a blog, and are not very familiar with blogging, we will take a moment below to explain exactly what it is.

Blogging

A blog is just a cyber geek term web log. It can be compared to the traditional journal or diary, except for the fact that it is online.  Furthermore, if you are a twelve year old girl, it is not recommended that you replace your diary with a blog. At least with a diary only your nine year old brother will read it. You can count on him finding a way to pick that pathetic lock. However, with a blog, the whole world can read it, without any foul play.

In general blogs can include news, thoughts, opinions, challenges, history, and really anything the blogger wants. However, the most important aspect of a blog is that it is updated on a schedule, and a receives frequently updated content. While some bloggers add new content every week, others add new content everyday or couple of days. In fact, I have seen blogs which are updated several times per day. This is where increased search engine rankings come into play. Search engines absolutely love blogs. Since there is always fresh new content, the site is viewed as being more important than if no new content were provided. This results in higher search engine rankings, and increased traffic.

In fact, if you have a website which has static pages, you can add a blog to your website so that you can add regularly updated content.

Pinging

A "Ping" is actually pretty cool. It is a program which sends a message out to another server or, the search engines for the matter, for the purpose of getting a response. In laymen terms, it is as though the program (in this case your blog) is making a phone call to the other server or computer (in this case the search engines) to tell it something.

So, for instance, if you update your blog, you want the search engines to know so that your pages are indexed and your blog is ranked. You can have your blog alert the search engines of new content through Pinging.

Why Blog and Ping?

I am sure that the answer to this question is evident at this point. However, we will answer it anyways. As you are probably aware, if your website does not show up in the search engines, you are unlikely to get very much traffic. Of course if you have a website, you want a lot of traffic. Therefore, the best thing that you can do to attract search engine attention, is to write a regular blog, ping the search engines, and have your set get indexed and ranked more quickly that it would have otherwise. Just a little extra effort on your part will bring your search engine traffic.

In fact, there is a good amount of free software on the Internet which you can simply add to your website, and begin blogging. Furthermore, RSS Feeds (ie. Really Simple Syndication Feeds), are a version of pinging. You can actually see the orange RSS Feed symbol in the bottom left of this website. All this means is that the search engines are going to know that you have added content, and as a result, start indexing your site sooner than otherwise.

Thus, if you are attempting to increase your web traffic so that you can make money fast, start blogging and pinging. You will see an immediate impact.

Zero Cost. Zero Obligation.
